About Miss M.

Hello everyone!  My name is Stephanie Medema (My students call me Miss M!) and I am the music teacher at McMeen Elementary.

About Me

I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor’s of Music Education and I’ve been teaching music for eight years.  Throughout my years of teaching, I’ve had the opportunity to teach music to students in Pre-K all the way through 12th grade and, honestly, elementary is just my favorite.  It’s really neat to work with students when they’re just beginning to understand the inner workings of music and how everything connects.  It allows me as a teacher to come up with some really interesting and exciting ways to teach my content.

When I’m not teaching, I also work as a professional singer.  Throughout the year I sing with Opera Colorado and the Colorado Symphony Chorus and then in the summer I travel to sing in music festivals and do solo work.  Some festivals I’ve sung for are the Minnesota Beethoven Festival, Arizona Musicfest, Bravo! Vail, the Oregon Bach Festival, and the Chautauqua Music Festival.

I live on the east side of Denver with my fiancé Eric and our two cats Pepper and Juan Carlos.  Eric is also a teacher!  He teaches Pre-K in DPS.  We spend our free time hiking, going out to shows, watching hockey (Except he’s a CBJ fan!  Boooooooooo!  Go Avs!), playing video games, and just chilling on the couch at home.
